Bu çalışma, nöroestetik, travma ve empati arasındaki ilişkiyi görsel sanatlar bağlamında disiplinlerarası bir yaklaşımla incelemektedir. Araştırmanın amacı, nöroestetik, travma kuramı, empati araştırmaları ve görsel kültür literatüründen hareketle travmatik sanat eserlerinin izleyici tarafından nasıl algılandığını ve deneyimlendiğini açıklayan kuramsal bir çerçeve geliştirmektir. Çalışmada estetik deneyimin yalnızca görsel beğeniye dayalı bir süreç olmadığı; algısal, bilişsel, duygusal ve etik boyutların karşılıklı etkileşimiyle şekillendiği ileri sürülmektedir. Bu kapsamda nöroestetik alanındaki temel kuramsal yaklaşımlar değerlendirilmiş; travmatik görsel temsillerin estetik deneyim üzerindeki etkileri empati ve travma kuramı çerçevesinde tartışılmıştır. Ayrıca kompozisyon, figür kullanımı, renk, mekânsal kurgu ve görsel belirsizlik gibi estetik öğelerin empatik katılım üzerindeki rolü ele alınmıştır. Literatürün disiplinlerarası sentezinden hareketle, travmatik sanat eserlerinin estetik deneyimini açıklamaya yönelik Travmatik Görsel Deneyimin Nöroestetik Modeli (Neuroaesthetic Model of Traumatic Visual Experience-NMTVE) önerilmiştir. Model; görsel algı, bilişsel işleme, empatik aktivasyon, estetik değerlendirme ve etik farkındalık olmak üzere birbiriyle etkileşim hâlindeki beş temel bileşenden oluşmaktadır. Çalışma, nöroestetik yaklaşımını travma ve empati araştırmalarıyla bütünleştirerek görsel sanatlar literatürüne kuramsal bir katkı sunmaktadır. Ayrıca önerilen modelin, gelecekte göz izleme, EEG ve fonksiyonel manyetik rezonans görüntüleme (fMRI) gibi yöntemlerle gerçekleştirilecek deneysel araştırmalar için kavramsal bir temel oluşturabileceği düşünülmektedir.
